Printing costs about 20 to 34 cents per page for black and white and about 76 cents to $1.69 per page for color on letter-size paper in Manhattan, based on published prices at FedEx Office and Staples stores and the New York Public Library, checked October 2026. Outside the city, prices can be lower: one UPS Store franchise in Albuquerque lists 10 cents for black and white and 45 cents for color.
Those are starting prices for a plain 8.5 x 11 in sheet. Cardstock, larger paper, binding and file handling all add to them, and the same company can charge very different prices at two of its own stores.

The UPS Store on Second Avenue publishes no copy prices and quotes by phone. Store prices are starting prices; the price for your job depends on paper, size, sides and quantity.
How much does it cost to print color copies?
Color usually costs three to seven times as much as black and white per page. At the FedEx Office on Wall Street the published starting price is 76 cents for color against 24 cents for black and white, while the same company's store inside a hotel at 811 7th Avenue lists $1.69 for color. Location makes a real difference, so check the store page before you walk in.
At the library, NYPL lists $1.25 for a color copy and $1.00 for color printed from a library computer, and notes that color is not available at every location. For tabloid 11 x 17 in sheets it lists 40 cents for black and white and $1.50 for color.
Is it cheaper to print at the library or Staples?
For a few pages of black and white, the library's listed 20 cents is below the 34 cent starting price on the Staples Broadway store page. For color, the library's $1.00 to $1.25 sits above the 76 cent starting price at the FedEx Office on Wall Street. The library has its own limits: queues at busy branches, basic paper only, and no folding, binding or finishing. It suits a form or a boarding pass. Our guide to where to print documents in Manhattan compares every option.
What changes the price of printing documents?
- Color or black and white: the biggest single factor.
- Paper size: 11 x 17 in costs more; the library lists 40 cents against 20 cents for black and white.
- Sides: ask whether a two-sided sheet is charged as one page or two.
- Paper: cardstock, colored and heavier papers carry an extra per-sheet charge.
- Self-serve or staffed counter: one UPS Store franchise in Albuquerque lists 10 cents self-serve and 13 cents full-service for black and white.
- File handling: the same franchise adds $1 for an emailed file and $2 for a USB drive.
- Finishing: stapling, hole punching, tabs, binding, lamination and cutting are priced on top.
- Quantity: some stores lower the per-page price for runs in the hundreds or thousands.
Where can I print color copies on cardstock?
Most copy centers and print shops can print on cardstock, while many home and library printers cannot feed it. Ask for a cover weight, such as 80 lb or 100 lb cover, rather than just cardstock, so you get the stiffness you expect, and say whether it should be coated for photos or uncoated for writing on. Our paper weight guide explains how text and cover weights compare.
What does binding add?
Binding is priced per book on top of the per-page cost, and the method decides how much. A corner staple costs little. Saddle stitching suits booklets up to about 64 pages. Coil and wire-o let a manual lie flat, and perfect binding gives a square spine like a paperback. Our binding types compared guide explains which suits which page count.
When is a print shop the better choice for copies?
A print shop makes more sense once a document job grows beyond a few sets. Think of 50 copies of a 40-page report collated and bound, exhibit sets with tabs, color handouts on heavier paper, or anything a client will hold. We print full color and black and white copies, collated and stapled, along with binder inserts, spines and certificates, and every file gets a free check before it prints. Delivery anywhere in Manhattan is free, and legal teams can read our guide to briefs, exhibits and Bates sets.
Before you print 50 sets of a long document, print one set and check it. The usual problems are a Word file that reflowed so a heading sits alone at the bottom of a page, a blank page inserted by a section break, and a two-sided job with an odd page count so every later chapter starts on the back of a sheet. Printing cost questions
How much does it cost to print one page in color?
About 76 cents to $1.69 for a letter-size color page at Manhattan copy centers, and $1.00 to $1.25 at the New York Public Library, based on published prices checked October 2026. These are typical market prices and subject to change.
How much does it cost to print 100 pages?
About $20 to $34 for 100 black and white pages and about $76 to $169 for 100 color pages, working from published Manhattan starting prices checked October 2026. Prices are subject to change, and paper, sides and binding add to them.
Is printing at the New York Public Library free?
No. NYPL lists a per-page charge, 20 cents for black and white and $1.25 for a color copy, at prices checked October 2026 and subject to change. Color is not offered at every location.
Why does color printing cost more than black and white?
A color page uses four toners instead of one, and color machines cost more to run per page. Heavy coverage, such as a full-page photo, uses far more toner than a page of text.
Can I get copies collated, stapled and delivered?
Yes. We print color and black and white copies collated and stapled, check the file free before printing, and deliver free anywhere in Manhattan.
For reports, handouts, exhibit sets and copies on cardstock, see our color copies and office printing and send the page count, quantity and finishing for a free quote. Quotes are answered within two business hours during shop hours.
