A finished 13 oz vinyl banner, hemmed with grommets, costs about $31 to $35 at 2 x 4 ft, $57 to $60 at 3 x 6 ft and $92 to $126 at 4 x 8 ft, at typical market prices checked October 2026. That works out to roughly $2.90 to $4.40 a square foot, with small banners at the top of that rate. A retractable banner stand with its printed graphic runs about $124 to $145 for an economy model and $180 to $245 for a premium one.
Vinyl banner pricing is mostly a matter of area, so a quick measurement gets you most of the way to a budget. Finishing, material and turnaround account for the rest.
How much does a vinyl banner cost?

| 2 x 4 ft | 8 sq ft | about $31 to $35 | about $3.85 to $4.40 |

Prices shown are typical market prices for standard options, based on published prices from national print retailers and online printers, checked October 2026. They are a guide, not a quote. Prices are subject to change and do change with quantity, paper, finishing and turnaround, so contact us for an updated quote.
These ranges are based on published list prices at online sign printers such as Signs.com, BuildASign and Vistaprint, including Signs.com's vinyl banners and BuildASign's vinyl banners. They are for one single-sided banner at standard turnaround, before shipping and tax. BuildASign and Vistaprint were running sales when checked; the ranges use their list prices. Vistaprint does not offer 3 x 6 ft, and its nearest size, 2.5 x 6 ft, listed at about $56.
How much does banner printing cost per square foot?
Finished 13 oz vinyl runs roughly $2.90 to $4.40 a square foot at typical market prices. The rate falls as the banner grows, because setup and finishing make up a bigger share of a small banner's price, so a 2 x 4 ft banner pays more per square foot than a 4 x 8 ft one.
To find the area, multiply the width by the height in feet: a 3 x 6 ft banner is 18 square feet. Use the rate for a first budget, then ask for a quote on the exact size, because sizes are cut to order and finishing varies by job.
Do grommets and hems cost extra?
At some printers they are included and at others they are add-ons, which is the first thing to check when two banner quotes look far apart. Signs.com includes a welded hem and grommets in its banner price. 4over4 lists them as extras on its outdoor banners, with grommets adding about 5 to 8 percent and hems about 12 to 14 percent. Vistaprint sells the same banner with or without grommets and reinforced edges: at 2.5 x 4 ft, about $34 without and $44 with, at list price.
Our vinyl banners come hemmed with grommets every two feet as standard, with pole pockets and wind slits on request. Do not order an unhemmed banner for outdoor use: the hem is what stops a grommet tearing out in the wind.
Which banner material should you price?
Price 13 oz scrim vinyl first; it is the standard outdoor banner and the material behind every figure above. The published prices checked in October 2026 did not give like-for-like figures for the other materials at these sizes, so price them by quote.
| Material | What it is | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| 13 oz scrim vinyl | Vinyl with a polyester mesh inside for tear strength | Grand openings, sales, events and most outdoor banners |
| 18 oz blockout | Heavier vinyl with an opaque center layer | Double-sided banners and banners lit from behind |
| Mesh | Perforated vinyl that lets wind through | Scaffolding, construction fences and windy avenues |
| Fabric | Polyester with a soft matte finish | Indoor events, stages and step and repeat walls |
Our banner material guide explains each one in more detail, including when mesh is worth the slight loss of color density.
How much does a retractable banner stand cost?
A retractable banner stand with its printed graphic, about 33 x 80 in, costs about $124 to $145 for an economy model and about $180 to $245 with a premium base, at typical market prices checked October 2026.
| Stand | Typical price | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Economy, about 33 x 80 in | about $124 to $145 | Standard cassette base, single-sided graphic |
| Premium, single-sided | about $180 to $245 | Upgraded base or cassette, single-sided graphic |
These figures are list prices at online printers such as Signs.com, Vistaprint and BuildASign. The base, sometimes called the cassette, causes most of the spread: one retailer's premium bases cost $35 to $100 more than its standard one for the same graphic. Ask whether the stand takes a replacement graphic, so you can update the message without buying new hardware. Our trade show checklist covers graphic sizes, X-stands and tabletop banners.
What changes the price of a banner?
- Size: the main factor, priced roughly by the square foot.
- Material: 13 oz vinyl, 18 oz blockout, mesh or fabric.
- Sides: a double-sided banner needs blockout material and a second print.
- Finishing: hems, grommets, pole pockets and wind slits, included or extra depending on the printer.
- Hardware: stands, frames and poles are priced separately from the print.
- Turnaround: rush costs more than standard turnaround.
- Delivery: online prices exclude shipping. We deliver free anywhere in Manhattan.
Measure the thing you are tying the banner to, not the wall behind it. A banner sized to a storefront that then has to hang from a railing either sags or covers the door, and grommets that land between fence posts leave the corners flapping. Send a photo with a rough measurement and we will mock the banner to scale before anything prints.
